About

Who we are

Seattle Sound Striders is an urban walking group for seniors (and near-seniors), open to all. Since 2009 we’ve walked thousands of miles through Seattle’s neighborhoods. We’re all volunteers, walking together for fun and fitness.

When and where we walk

  • Tuesday mornings: about 5 miles, in downtown Seattle and neighborhoods to the north.
  • Thursday mornings: 3.8 to 4.5 miles, in downtown Seattle and neighborhoods to the south.

Each walk starts from a coffee shop. See Upcoming Walks on the home page for the place and time.

How to join a walk

No registration needed. Just show up, ask for the walk leader and introduce yourself. We’re usually 20 to 40 people, so you can’t miss us.

Pace and hills

We walk at about 2½ to 3 miles per hour, and most walks include some of Seattle’s plentiful hills. You should be comfortable with that level of activity.

Winter weather

If Seattle schools are late or closed because of snow or ice, walks are cancelled too.
